History of Legends

The owners

Bill and Keely Butler are the owners of Broken Bow Neighborhood Grill.  It has been a long time dream of theirs to open a restaurant.  When the Emily’s Building came up for sale, Bill had a vision.  BAM  Development group was formed to purchase and renovate and remodel the building.  Custer County Construction (Bill’s company) handled the construction and design of the “new” building.

Bill was born to Air Force parents (Greg and Lorraine) in Arizona.  He moved to Virginia, and then southern California where he spent most of his growing up years.  He has been in construction since he was 17.  He works hard to play hard.

Keely’s places of residence: New Jersey (only 2 years), Nebraska (West Omaha and Bellevue), Virginia, Arizona, Colorado, and full circle to Broken Bow.  She graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Education.  She is certified to teach math, but her heart is in the restaurant business.

Bill and Keely met in California while Keely was on vacation.  They dated from California to Arizona until they decided they needed to be closer.  Bill had spent winters snowboarding in Colorado, and Keely was willing to move anywhere (but California) so Boulder, Colorado is where they landed.  Bill continued to build and Keely continued to bartend/manage restaurants.  First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes Keely with a baby carriage.  Tanner was their first born in 2000.  Keely stayed home with Tanner as Bill took on more commercial jobs and expanded his repertoire of building styles (including several restaurants).  Tristan came along in 2003.

Keely’s parents (George and Penny Ashenfelter) were in Northern California for several years, but due to George having Alzheimer’s her mom decided to move back home to Broken Bow.  Bill and Keely decided to move to Broken Bow in order to assist.  They have been in Broken Bow since 2008.

Bill and his idea of what kind of restaurant/bar he would want to visit, has made it into a reality.  Keely has 25+ years in the restaurant/bar business.  Tanner and Tristan are game for learning the ins and outs of the business.  All together they will team up to make Broken Bow Legends Neighborhood Grill an establishment that will make Broken Bow proud.
